EMC² – ‘Embedded Multi-Core systems for Mixed Criticality applications in dynamic and changeable real-time environments’ is an ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking project in the Innovation Pilot Programme ‘Computing platforms for embedded systems’ (AIPP5).
EMC2 project is a 3-years project (April 2014 – March 2017) co-funded by ARTEMIS Joint Undertaking and national and European authorities (grant agreement no: 621429 ) of 19 European countries, in Spain by the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism (national reference number ART-010000-2014-1) , with an assigned budget of 93M€ at an international level.
Seven Solutions participates in EMC2 project by developing dependable solutions for time transfer. We contribute on WP1, WP4 and WP11 workpackages. Our role is to explore the mechanisms for improving reliability on time transfer for industrial applications with focus on the Smart-Grid market. The presence of multicore devices is used as a base for the development of mixed criticality solutions capable of distributing data and time over Ethernet links. We explore issues related with determinism, redundancy and quality of service (QoS) for addressing the next generation of distributed smart-grid applications with outstanding synchronization capabilities.
The project is composed of 99 partners of embedded-device industry and research from 19 European countries, such as: EADS, Telvent Energía, Fraunhofer, Siemens, Freescale, CEA, Rockwell, Thales, TECNALIA, ERICSSON, ABB, PHILIPS, etc…
